We’re growing in Austin with a new hospital for children and women

On May 14, 2021 President and CEO Mark A. Wallace and Texas Children’s Hospital leaders, supporters and special guests participated in a virtual celebration for the groundbreaking of our new hospital serving the Austin community.

Set to open in 2024, Texas Children’s Hospital North Austin Campus will bring a 365,000-square-foot, 52-bed top-tier children and women’s hospital to our state’s capital and the nation’s fastest growing city.

To address the need for expanded pediatric, fetal and obstetrics/gynecology care in the central Texas area, the new hospital will include neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, operating rooms, an epilepsy monitoring area, a sleep center, an emergency center, a fetal center for advanced fetal interventions and surgery with a special high-risk delivery unit, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging suite, acute care rooms, an on-site Texas Children’s Urgent Care location and more than 1,200 free parking spaces.

An adjacent 170,000-square-foot outpatient building will connect patients and families to Texas Children’s numerous subspecialties, including cardiology, oncology, neurology, pulmonology, gastroenterology, rheumatology, fetal care and dialysis.

Texas Children’s first entry into Austin was in March 2018 with the opening of Texas Children’s Urgent Care Westgate. Texas Children’s Pediatrics, the nation’s largest pediatric primary care network, currently has 12 locations in Austin. These practices provide full-service care for children, including newborn and infant care; well and sick child visits; immunizations; hearing and vision screenings; and camp, school and sports physicals.

In October 2018, Texas Children’s Specialty Care Austin opened, increasing families’ access to a whole range of subspecialty care services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, clinical nutrition, diabetes and endocrinology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery and pulmonology.

Texas Children’s Hospital North Austin Campus is another example of Texas Children’s commitment to provide the very best pediatric and maternal care right where Austinites need it most.
